2.4Ghz & 5Ghz Bands
Most equipment made in the past few years will be compatible with both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz; it’s worth checking that your current router can support these bands as they will greatly enhance your WiFi connections. The 2.4Ghz band is an all-rounder and can support speeds of 600mbps (depending on the router), but it can get very congested and suffer interference from other electronic equipment, including phones and baby monitors. The 5Ghz band is much clearer and can support speeds up to 1300mbps, but it doesn’t have as much range as 2.4Ghz.

You can’t expect the same speed on a WiFi device as on a computer directly connected to a router via Ethernet cable. WiFi speed will also depend on the capabilities of your device.
WiFi Scanning Service
DHTech offers a cost-effective WiFi scanning service which suggests ways to improve your signal. We use a powerful dual-band spectrum analyser that measures WiFi and non-WiFi activity in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. It uses radio frequency (RF) data to provide you with a real-time visual overview of your WiFi network environment. Apps on smart devices don’t offer the entire RF range, so they don’t give a clear picture of what’s causing interference.
